A Purdue University paper, funded by NASA, asserts that global warming could "reduce viable grape growing acreage for fine wines by up to 80 percent in the U.S., making it virtually impossible to grow high-quality grapes for fine wines." In response, the Napa Valley Vintners have formed a "Climate Change Task Force" to produce a more accurate model for Napa Valley that might be used by grape growers to adjust their farming methods to maintain "Napa Valley's leadership" in the growing of fruit for the production of fine wines.
