Job Description:
Erath Winery has an opportunity for a Cellar & Bottling Floor Supervisor. Be part of the winemaking process while leading your team in the production of award winning wine. This position reports to the directly to the Cellarmaster at Erath Winery in Dundee, Oregon.
Essential Functions:
• Provide supervision and direction to cellar personnel.
• Have working knowledge of all processing and building support systems at Erath Winery, performing cellar operations as necessary.
• Have working knowledge of the bottling line and be able to run it when necessary.
• Prioritize work orders and work flow.
• Assign and monitor tasks to departmental and temporary personnel.
• Work both independently and as a team member while troubleshooting for mechanical and equipment problems.
• Be responsible for ensuring accuracy and completion of work orders.
• Inspect equipment and facilities and have the ability to recognize and correct safety violations.
• Interact with all levels of management, ensuring strong written and verbal communication.
Non-Essential Functions:
This position may also include working with Vintners Advantage and other software. It may include representing the winery/brand at symposiums, seminars, and other industry functions. It will likely be necessary to occasionally help people working in other parts of Erath. The functions of this position could change as the winery and company grow and change.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required, some college courses preferred.
• Flexibility to grow and change with a dynamic company.
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in cellar operations and supervisory skills.
• Ability to organize, balance and prioritize production and processing needs.
• Ability to efficiently use equipment and personnel.
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and computer - coupled with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong motivational skills.
• Ability to work variable shifts and extended hours when necessary.
• Ability to perform light mechanical maintenance including, but not limited to, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, refrigeration, waste water, potable water.
• Experience and understanding in all relevant equipment and operations.
• Certified to operate a forklift preferred.
• Ability to interact well with diverse cultures, personalities, and professional levels inside and outside the winery.
Working Conditions:
Majority of work is performed outside in many different conditions including rain, snow, and extreme heat.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds including pumps, hoses and boxes. Often carries up and down a flight of stairs.
• Regularly works in extreme weather conditions, i.e. cold, wet, heat, dry.
• Occasionally climbs a ladder.
• Occasionally will work extended hours, i.e. during Crush/Harvest (Fall) and Bottling (various times of the year).
• Typically work is done in a fast paced environment and often under high stress.
