Staff Accountant
Scope:
Assist Finance department with general administrative accounting functions.

Basic Function:
Duties include support in the areas of general accounting, payroll timekeeping backup, reporting and other related duties/projects.


Responsibilities:
Percent of Time: General Accounting - 35%

Preparation of month-end journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash, miscellaneous A/R, prepaids, accruals and intercompany accounts.

Provide support and back-up Payroll in the areas of timekeeping and month-end reporting and reconciliations.

Bank Deposits

Assist Accounts Payable with invoice scanning and coding

P-cards: Verify all charges have been coded and allocated on a monthly basis

Percent of Time: Reporting - 35%

Prepare quarterly sales/use tax returns and out of state tax reports. Serve as point person when these tax returns are audited. Prepare miscellaneous BF and government surveys.

Complete Manufacturing and Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys.

Percent of Time: Other Duties & Projects 30%

• Maintain list of all operating leases
• DMV Registration, Annual Motor Carrier Tax Report
• Liaison between B-F and Winery Operations for all insurance claims and incident reporting
• Support financial activities for employee wine sale
• Sonoma-Cutrer and Fetzer licensing/renewals (out of state)
• Filing

Must Experience:
Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with 1-3 years related experience or equivalent education/experience combination.

An understanding of GAAP and the ability to perform analysis.


Valid CA Driver’s License. This position is based in Hopland, but may require travel to Windsor location from time to time.

Skills:

Developed computer skills in Excel, Word, e-mail and internet applications with an emphasis in Excel. Prior experience with timekeeping software a plus.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting established deadlines.


Typing and 10-key by touch. Ability to operate office machinery such as computer, telephone, fax machine, credit card machine and related equipment.

Requires organization and attention to detail. Ability to maintain accurate documentation and perform quality work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management teams.

Working Conditions:
Activities may include remaining stationary at a desk for extended periods of time. Ability to work extended hours during peak activity such as month-end close, budget season and harvest may be required.
